Privacy Policy

Note: This policy is provided as a working draft and has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. It should be reviewed by a qualified professional before the App is made broadly available to the public, particularly given that the App is directed at children and processes payments.

1. Introduction

Welcome to PSLE Ace ("the App"). This Privacy Policy explains how Karl Mumm ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal data when you use our mobile application.

We are committed to complying with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA), the United States Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and to protecting the privacy of all users, including children.

2. Who This App Is For

PSLE Ace is designed for Primary 6 students in Singapore (typically aged 11–12) preparing for the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE).

If you are under 13 years old, a parent or guardian must read this Privacy Policy and tap "I Agree" on your behalf. By tapping "I Agree" on the consent screen, the person doing so confirms they are either 13 or older, or a parent or guardian providing consent for their child.

We encourage parents and guardians to be involved in their child's use of this App.

3. What Data We Collect

If you use the App as a Guest (no account)

No personal information (such as your name or email address) is collected.
A randomly generated username is assigned (e.g. "noblehawk594") and linked to an anonymous device identifier.
Your quiz progress, scores, and daily activity are saved against this anonymous identifier so that your progress is preserved between sessions on the same device. This data is not linked to your name, email, or any other personal information unless you later create an account (see below).
If you create an account, your existing guest progress can be carried over to your new account.

If you create an account (Email Sign-Up)

Email address — for account creation and login
Display name — chosen by you or your parent/guardian
Profile photo (optional) — if you choose to upload one
Quiz statistics — scores, questions attempted, accuracy per subject
Account activity data — date created, last active date
Notification preferences — whether push notifications are enabled and at what time
Subscription status — whether you have an active PSLE Ace Premium subscription. Payment details themselves (e.g. card numbers) are handled entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store — we never receive or store this information.

If you sign in with Google or Apple

Your Google account email address, display name, and profile photo (if set). We do not receive your Google password.
If you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple ID email address and name. Apple may hide your email — in this case we receive a private relay address instead.

4. How We Use Your Data

We use your data solely to:

Create and manage your account
Save your quiz progress and statistics across devices
Provide access to premium features if you subscribe
Send optional study reminder notifications (only if you enable them)
Improve the App's content and features

We do not sell your data to any third party, use your data for advertising or marketing profiling, or share your data with schools or third parties without your consent.

5. Children's Privacy (PDPA and COPPA Compliance)

We take children's privacy seriously. Because PSLE Ace is directed at Primary 6 students, we aim to comply with both Singapore's PDPA and, given the App's distribution through Google Play and use of US-based service providers, the United States Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), for the collection of personal data from children under 13.

Parental consent is required for users under 13 to create an account with personal data.
We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide the App's features.
We do not use children's data for advertising, behavioral profiling, or any commercial purpose beyond operating the App.
We do not knowingly collect more personal information from a child than is reasonably necessary for the child to participate in the App.

Parents and guardians may contact us at admin@psle-ace.com at any time to review, request correction of, or request deletion of their child's data, or to refuse further collection or use of their child's data. We will respond within 10 business days.

6. Third-Party Services

These services may process your data on servers outside Singapore. By using the App, you consent to this transfer, conducted under appropriate data protection safeguards.

7. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely in Google Firebase. Access is restricted so that only your own account can read or modify your data. We use industry-standard security practices to protect against unauthorised access. No method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

Guest session data (tied to an anonymous device identifier, not to your name or email) is retained in the same way as account data until the App is uninstalled or you contact us to request its deletion.

9. Your Rights Under the PDPA

Under Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act, you have the right to access, correct, and request deletion of your personal data, and to withdraw consent for its collection and use. To exercise these rights, contact us at admin@psle-ace.com. We will respond within 10 business days.

10. Push Notifications

If you enable push notifications, we may send you study reminders at the time you choose. You can disable notifications at any time in the App's settings or in your device's system settings.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. For significant changes, we will notify you within the App.
